In addition to my law licenses, I have a certificate in Health Care Facilities Planning and Design from the Sloan School of Health Administration at Cornell University. That was something that I felt it was important to pursue, because I had taken on the drafting negotiation of all the commercial lease agreements and all the outreach license agreements for the University of Florida College of Medicine. In doing that, I really started to get interested in seeing the different floor plans and layouts, and intricacies that go into that.
The course that I took prior to getting my certificate in the Health Care Facilities Planning and Design really focused on the strategy behind that. It was phenomenal. It was very eye-opening to see how the way you design a building, and the flow from nurses to the reception to the patient outtake, intake, can affect the patient’s experience.
