The Obama Administration has delayed until 2015 the requirement that entities with more than 50 employees provide health insurance or pay penalties. The delay does not affect the formation and implementation of health insurance exchanges under other provisions of the Accountable Care Act, which are intended to make health insurance products available to currently uninsured segments of the population. Even if your practice employs less than 50 people, you may want to encourage your employees to investigate the insurance options open to them through the state exchange. Enrollment is set to open October 1. Contact Chip Koval is you would like to discuss how this might affect your practice.
