Dell Graham litigation associate, Ryan Gilbert, has recently been selected as an Academy Fellow of the Wm. Reece Smith, Jr. Leadership Academy. Now in its third year, the Academy is a multi-session training program designed to assist a diverse group of lawyers in enhancing their leadership skills and becoming better leaders within their profession. Each year a select group of participants are chosen from applications submitted to The Florida Bar to become Academy Fellows.
Mr. Gilbert is one of only a few lawyers chosen as Academy Fellows based on leadership experience and involvement in the legal profession and the community.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow that is afforded by the Leadership Academy,” says Gilbert, “And I’m excited about using the knowledge and resources I gain to benefit my practice, my firm, my community, and the Bar.”
During the one year term, Mr. Gilbert and the other Academy Fellows will follow a curriculum, including attending Bar events and special educational programs, tailored to enhance their professional development, knowledge base, and experience. Academy Fellows are given the opportunity to learn more about the inner workings of The Florida Bar and their role within the legal profession, while honing their personal leadership skills. The Academy’s Mission is to “identify, nurture and inspire effective leadership within the Bar and the legal community.”
“We’re proud that Ryan will be representing Dell Graham and north central Florida on this state-wide stage,” says John Jopling, managing partner of Dell Graham. Jopling pointed out that there are currently six sitting judges who are former Dell Graham attorneys. “For more than a hundred years, our firm has fostered leadership. It is important for us, having received so much from our community, to give back through service.”
Mr. Gilbert will be inducted into the third class of the Leadership Academy at the Annual Florida Bar Convention in Boca Raton on June 25.
